Who will you be working with?
You will work with a broad range of talented individuals to deliver quality products in a timely manner at our Thermal Transfer Group business unit. You’ll partner with professionals across multiple departments and work alongside other Assemblers, Operators, and Welders.
As a member of the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions team, you will be responsible for providing services and support to internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure materials, processes and products meet or exceed specifications. This position is based at our Duquesne, PA location and reports directly to the Shop Supervisor.
How will you make a difference?
As an Assembler I at Wabtec Components, LLC; Thermal Transfer, you will follow specified work instructions and/or engineering drawings to assemble and test a wide variety of products. You will be responsible for the quality of your work and meeting production standards. You will continually look for ways to improve our production processes and make safety your #1 priority every day.
What do we want to know about you?
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Basic computer skills for data entry, viewing, reporting.
+ Ability to read and understand and drawings, BOMs and work procedures.
+ Ability to operate hand tools such as torque wrenches, hammers, presses; etc.
+ Ability to read measuring devices such as pressure gages and timers.
+ Ability to operate a hydraulic press.
+ Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
+ Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement changes in process and procedures as needed.
+ Experience with shipping and receiving material in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience assembling components in a manufacturing environment
What will your typical day look like?
+ Follow specified work instructions to assemble, test, and package products for shipment.
+ Receive and check incoming components into inventory.
+ Review supplier components to ensure parts meet drawings and specification checklists.
+ Identify and quarantine non-conforming products.
+ Use all company owned methods of operating machinery, i.e., forklifts/trucks, jib cranes, overhead cranes, etc., and must be willing to train and adapt to new systems.
+ Maintain time records and job records as described by supervisor.
+ Package finished goods and use departmental shipping software and label software
+ Participate in inventory cycle counting activities.
+ Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures.
+ Adhere to the Wabtec Code of Conduct.
+ Maintain departmental housekeeping (5S) standards.
+ Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions
+ Actively participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required
+ Correspond with internal personnel and delivery drivers, etc.
Work Schedule:
Must be able to work multiple shifts if needed.
+ Day Shift: 5:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Thursday
+ Second Shift: 3:30 pm to 2:00 am Monday afternoon thru Friday morning
Physical Demands and Requirements for this position are:
+ Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, lifting 15lbs or less.
+ Occasionally sitting, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting up to 50lbs or more, exposure to cold/heat/humidity, loud noises, and dust or vapors within OSHA limits.
+ Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
+ Operate forklift and overhead crane
+ Employee is always required to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility including steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
+ The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
+ Employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
