    Summary This Security Specialist position is located in the Security Office, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW). The division is responsible for implementing all functions for Information, Personnel, Physical, Anti-terrorism, and Force Protection disciplines. Responsibilities You will accomplish duties as Communications Security Specialist, Primary Communications Security (COMSEC), Account Manager (CAM), Primary Key Management Infrastructure, Operating Account Manager (KOAM), and Client Platform Administrator (CPA). You will apply comprehensive working knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC) concepts, regulations, policies, and practices as well as specialized technical expertise to review, analyze, and resolve complex and sensitive security problems. You will demonstrate working knowledge of communications systems, encryption circuitry, cryptographic keying material, and their appropriate integration into secure operational environments. You will participate in the investigation and analysis of a broad range of atypical or sensitive COMSEC issues. You will formulate projects, studies, and plans designed to significantly alter or improve existing COMSEC systems. You will establish local criteria, procedures, and guidance for program areas where higher-level guidance is general, insufficiently detailed, or not fully applicable to the operational environment. You will develop, recommend, and implement long-range COMSEC strategies that impact organizational capabilities across multiple geographically dispersed locations and mission sets. You will utilize and manage secure and non-secure networks (e.g., SIPRNET, NIPRNET), information systems, and security software applications. You will demonstrate job related experience and apply specialized training and operational knowledge of Data Transfer Device (DTD) operations and associated cryptographic key management procedures. You will advise senior leadership on COMSEC implication of operational plans, technology integration, and resource decisions. You will coordinate with external agencies and partners to ensure interoperability and protection of shared information systems and resources. You will perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For this Security Specialist GS-0080-12 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes: (1) Applying comprehensive working knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC) concepts, principles, laws, regulations, policies, and practices as well as specialized technical expertise to review, analyze, and resolve complex and sensitive security problems. (2) Utilizing extensive job experience and understanding of the highly specialized area of COMSEC, including administration of the Navy's Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) System and the Navy's COMSEC Material Control System or similar control system. (3) Demonstrating working knowledge of communications systems, encryption circuitry, cryptographic keying material, and their appropriate integration into secure operational environments. (4) Participating in investigating and analyzing a broad range of atypical or sensitive COMSEC issues. (5) Formulating projects, studies, and plans designed to significantly alter or improve existing COMSEC systems, and establishing local criteria, procedures, and guidance for program areas where higher-level guidance is general, insufficiently detailed, or not fully applicable to the operational environment. (6) Developing, recommending, and implementing long-range COMSEC strategies that impact organizational capabilities across multiple geographically dispersed locations and mission sets. (7) Using and managing secure and non-secure networks (e.g., SIPRNET, NIPRNET), information systems, and security software applications. (8) Demonstrating job related experience and possessing specialized training and operational knowledge of Data Transfer Device (DTD) operations and associated cryptographic key management procedures.
