Special Education Teacher – Lodi, California
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides high-quality educational services to students with disabilities in grades K–12. This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative planning and implementation of individualized student programs, including specialized instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with general education staff.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary team members.
+ Provide instruction for students with a wide range of learning, emotional, behavioral, and physical disabilities.
+ Design and deliver individualized and small-group lessons aligned with the general education curriculum.
+ Collaborate with parents, social workers, and related service providers to promote students’ academic, physical, and social development.
+ Prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom environment.
+ Serve as the primary coordinator for IEP implementation and compliance.
+ Monitor student progress and participate in IEP reviews and revisions as needed.
+ Maintain accurate and timely student records.
+ Mentor and support paraprofessionals assisting students with disabilities.
+ Prepare students for grade-level transitions and teach essential life skills.
+ Assess student abilities, track performance, and communicate progress to general education teachers and families.
+ Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
+ Adhere to the district policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Education: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
+ Certification: Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Disabilities).
+ Experience: Minimum one year of teaching experience preferred.
Additional Information
+ Knowledge of IEP development and compliance with IDEA and state regulations.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills.
+ Proficiency in technology and instructional tools.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
