Description of Job
A customer service-based position that provides information and handles all aspects of product sales to customers while providing support to the staff. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. This position is a combination of both the Entrance Gate and Visitor Center Attendant – working one day at entrance gate and two at visitor center. The Entrance Gate Attendant welcomes visitors and provides park specific information. The Visitor Center Attendant has a lot of responsibilities and they are the key to the successful operations and safety of the park. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
+ Work directly with park visitors to greet and orientate them with the park.
+ Answer questions about local wildlife, historical, cultural, and park history.
+ Answer all incoming calls, handle inquiries, and/or direct to appropriate staff.
+ Monitor patrol radios, relay messages, and dispatch to staff.
+ Sell park passes, hunting/fishing licenses, OHV/boat registrations and enter revenue totals on CPW's internet web system.
+ Sell, inventory, and order merchandise for Visitor Center bookstore.
+ Support Volunteer Naturalists and Friends programs.
+ Assist with interpretive exhibits.
+ Light cleaning of the Visitor Center facilities.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
+ Valid driver’s license required.
+ Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift 50lbs.
+ Ability to interact positively with the public in various situations.
+ Weekend and evening work may be required.
+ Hunting and fishing experience helpful.
+ Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
+ Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week
Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:
+ Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
+ Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
+ Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
