Look no further – we have the job for you! **Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine** is seeking applicants for an Inpatient Vet Assistant to work in the Intermediate Care (IMC ), Intensive Care Unit (ICU ), and Emergency Room (ER) section of our **Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital** .
The individual in this position will work directly with board-certified emergency and critical care veterinarians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate quality care and patient flow through theIMC ,ICU , and ER.
Essential Functions
+ Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC orICU , observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and performs treatments and administers medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.
+ Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.
+ Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR , mechanical ventilation, and dialysis.
+ Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals, environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation.
+ Performs job duties with speed and accuracy and works as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
+ Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service.
+ May be responsible for, or assist with, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks.
+ This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
+ May perform other duties as assigned.

**Level II** :
+ High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
**LevelIII** :
+ High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
**Substitution allowed for Experience** :
Graduate degrees can be accepted in lieu of experience.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
This position involves direct contact with animals susceptible to rabies. Employees in this role must complete a rabies pre-exposure vaccination series and maintain adequate rabies antibody titer (≥0.5 IU/mL) as recommended byCDC guidelines.
Auburn University will cover the cost of the rabies vaccination series, periodic titer checks, and any necessary boosters.
