Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights-of-way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Plans and conducts maintenance activities in one or more parishes through unit foreman. Incumbent confers with District 02/New Orleans East Area Engineer on a routine basis to coordinate and report work progress, to discuss policy matters, personnel, equipment and special assignments.
+ Collaborates with district-wide foreman to coordinate work efforts and material usage between parish and districtwide crews. I ncumben t also cons u lts with District Safety Officer to ensure accurate reporting of accidents and understanding of current departmental safety policy. Uses the Performance Evaluation System (PES) to plan and evaluate employee’s performances.
+ Incumbent confers with state, parish, and city officials and the general public in order to respond to road maintenance and drainage complaints. Takes corrective action where indicated, all in accordance with department policy. Responds to emergency situations by providing crews on a 24-hour basis in order to minimize exposure of the traveling public to dangerous conditions.
+ Conducts bi-weekly inspections in order to establish priorities for scheduling work. Schedules activities weekly to make the most effective and efficient use of resources for work assignments.
+ Ensures manpower, equipment, and material usage reports are accurate so that resources consumption and information better aid maintenance management decisions . Approves and completes Day Cards via Agile Assets.
+ Confers with law enforcement personnel during accident investigations to coordinate roadway maintenance efforts . Ensures proper maintenance and servicing of equipment to maximize life, minimize downtime, and promote safe operation.
+ Ensures subordinates are trained in accordance with Department Policy. Reviews field procedures to see that methods learned and training received are being utilized.
