Principal Systems Engineer, Weather Radar

Join a team that designs, develops and integrates highly complex systems within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will have ownership for systems at every aspect of the systems life cycle; from the front end of business development through product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the business to drive growth and reach critical business milestones. This position is customer-facing. The successful candidate will represent the Honeywell Weather Radar team, coordinating with multiple OEMs and driving customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design and develop applications for airborne weather radar systems
+ Perform signal processing, including doppler and spectral analysis, for weather radar applications.
+ Work with raw I/Q data to develop algorithms for weather detection.
+ Engage in the design, development, and testing of RF systems, with an emphasis on radar architecture and systems engineering.
+ Monitor, analyze, and validate statistical data pertaining to RF link performance, quality, and reliability.
+ Develop creative solutions to challenging technical problems.
+ Lead product leadership initiatives, focusing on lifecycle management and requirement tracing and development.
+ Author and submit technical white papers for chief and executive reviews.
+ Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and expertise within the team.
+ Act as a technical consultant, providing expert advice on radar systems and signal processing techniques.
+ Manage and oversee projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with technical specifications.
+ Interface with customers to ensure product designs meet operational requirements and client expectations.
US PERSON REQUIREMENTS:
+ Due to compliance with US export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a US Person which is defined as a US citizen, US permanent resident, or have protected status In the US under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
Must Have
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
+ 10 or more years in an engineering role.
+ 5 years experience with Weather Radar

+ Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline, such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
+ Strong knowledge of pulse compression techniques to enhance radar system performance.
+ Familiarity with dual polarization radar technology and data analysis methods.
+ Proficiency in working with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar systems.
+ Experience in applying AI/ML algorithms to optimize weather radar applications.
+ Strong understanding of aircraft I/O and avionics integration.
+ Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware and software technical issues.
+ Comprehensive understanding of wireless project requirements and industry standards.
+ Capacity to conceptualize and innovate new technologies, products, and processes that drive advancement.
+ Skilled in balancing demand and capacity, when establishing organizational prioritie3s effectively.
+ Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions amid complexity, combining systemic analysis with confident decisiveness.
+ High degree of creativity and independence in problem-solving and project execution.
The annual base salary range for this position in Washington is $191,000 - $205,500. This position is incentive plan eligible. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
