    UPMC Somerset is seeking a full-time Manager to oversee Regulatory within the Quality Department!

    Purpose:

    Manages and educates hospital and system staff on care of patients; consults with management and staff, and communicate evidence based, effective patient safety strategies to others within the hospital organization. Regulatory Management function facilitates and manages new and ongoing projects specific to continuous regulatory preparedness and reporting information to regulatory bodies as appropriate.

     

    The full-time schedule consists of working Monday through Friday, primarily daytime hours. Weekend and holiday coverage may be requested on an occasional basis but is not routinely required.

    Responsibilities:

    + Strategizes and carries forward the Patient Safety and Regulatory Plans.

    + Manages resources to support Patient Safety and Regulatory initiatives.

    + Assigns Patient Safety and Regulatory support personnel as appropriate.

    + Demonstrates expertise in regulatory, state and federal requirements for reporting.

    + Oversees the hospital's system for internal and external reporting for quality and patient safety and infrastructure failures.

    + Initiates and oversees the development of a comprehensive patient safety program and regulatory program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data.

    + Demonstrates strong management skills by prioritizing and balancing multiple projects simultaneously.

    + Partners with hospital leaders to implement change. Actively collaborates with Executives, Director, and Physician staff to ensure effective processes and system are established and maintained to meet System, Hospital and Department patient safety goals and regulatory requirements.

    + Uses measurement and analytics skills to identify areas of improvement.

    + Exhibits knowledge of the fiscal implications of patient safety outcomes.

    + Coordinates with the hospital triad to keep them informed of patient safety and regulatory priorities, initiatives and incidents.

    + Develops effective communication and partnerships to maintain quality and patient safety as a high priority.

    + Proactively educates and communicates with leadership and staff regarding quality and patient safety programs.

    + Remains fully informed of national and local patient safety and regulatory mandates.

    + Serves as point person for professional and general liability cases.

    + Facilitates the investigation and root cause analysis process as appropriate.

    + Develops formal and informal patient safety and Regulatory education.

    + Recognizes immediate jeopardy situations that places patients or the hospital at risk.

    + Can be asked to act as lead in absence of the director.

    + *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

    + *Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Bachelor's degree in relevant field required

    + Master's degree, or UPMC approved certification, or completion of 2 years in a 4 year Bachelor's to PhD/DNP program required.

    + Minimum of 7 years related healthcare experience required

    + Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, patients/families.

    + Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple changing priorities and specialized equipment.

    + Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.

    + Demonstrates a progressive leadership track

    + Skilled in Microsoft office and other data applications

    + Mobility and visual manual dexterity.

    + Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, and lifting.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + National Certification Preferred

    + Act 34
