The NASCAR Track Support Engineer is responsible for delivering on-site technical support for Pratt Miller software tools and technology initiatives at NASCAR race events. This role focuses on proprietary data acquisition, processing, management, and delivery systems. The position requires a technically minded individual with strong communication skills, the ability to perform in high-pressure environments, and a customer-focused mindset. Extensive travel and independent work are essential components of this position
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Trackside Technical Support
+ Serve as the first-level trackside contact for all Pratt Miller software tools at NASCAR race events (41 events per year).
+ Provide limited support to Truck teams at companion events.
+ Deliver on-site technical and user support for all Pratt Miller competition tools.
+ Proactively check in with clients to identify and address support needs.
+ Offer expert-level user support as required.
+ Act as an intermediary between clients and higher-level support personnel.
+ Actively monitor the health and performance of competition tools and services.
+ Provide informal training to end users when needed.
+ Maintain a trackside library of all current versions of Pratt Miller software toolsets and support materials.
+ Report technical issues, user feedback, and improvement opportunities to software development staff.
Technology Systems Support
+ Manage and maintain all trackside technology systems, including networking, PCs, internet, and satellite systems.
+ Support peripheral devices and toolsets interacting with Pratt Miller software.
+ Implement and support technology-driven projects for communication, data dissemination, and competitive evaluation initiatives.
+ Assist with the production and distribution of weekly reports.
+ Receive ongoing training and updates on Pratt Miller software toolsets used within the NASCAR program.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following areas may be assigned as needed:
+ Participation in Pratt Miller internal meetings.
+ Continued education and training on PME software products and related technologies.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
+ BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in Information Technology, Systems Support, or Applications Development.
DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Required Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an outgoing, customer-focused attitude.
+ Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and develop practical solutions.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server operating systems.
+ Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
+ Understanding of networking concepts: domains, authentication, security groups, maintenance, and general networking principles.
+ Demonstrated ability to research, understand, and implement new technology.
+ Ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek additional assistance.
Preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
+ Experience with enterprise-level software deployment and support.
+ Experience designing and implementing networking infrastructure.
+ Trackside experience in motorsports, particularly NASCAR.
+ Experience with soldering.
+ Basic understanding of non-line level electrical systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ Extensive independent travel and long hours required (41 events per year).
+ Periodic exposure to high-stress environments.
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs.
+ Occasional elevated work or work within enclosed environments.
+ Willingness to operate in environments with inherent physical risk.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
+ Extensive travel schedule aligned with NASCAR event calendar.
+ Hours vary based on event requirements and support needs.
+ Additional effort may be required during peak competition periods or technology rollouts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Work is performed primarily at NASCAR race tracks, with occasional office-based activities.
+ Fast-paced, high-pressure environment requiring rapid response and technical adaptability.
+ Collaborative and customer-facing setting with direct interaction with racing organizations and technical personnel.
Pay Range:
$68,600.00 - $106,300.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
