UPMC Muncy is seeking an experienced Senior Professional Staff Nurse II to support our Emergency Department in a flexible, casual role. This opportunity is perfect for a skilled ED nurse who wants meaningful, high-impact work with scheduling based on department needs-including rotating weekends, one holiday per year, and a minimum commitment of 36 hours every six weeks.
In this role, you'll serve as a clinical leader on the care delivery team, providing exceptional, patient-centered emergency care while setting the standard for quality and practice. You'll use your expertise and independent judgment to manage complex patient needs, collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, mentor fellow nurses, and contribute to improvements that enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
+ Serves as a visible clinical and professional role model, recognized as a unit leader in expertise, teaching, and evidence-based practice
+ Provides constructive feedback, participates in peer review, and promotes positive change to enhance patient care and the unit environment
+ Leads and collaborates on high-performing teams, contributing to daily operations and shared governance at unit and hospital levels
+ Demonstrates advanced assessment, critical thinking, and analytical skills within a Relationship-Based Care framework
+ Builds a healthy, inclusive workplace through strong relationships, cultural awareness, and addressing workplace behaviors
+ Delivers holistic, patient-centered care, partnering with patients and families to develop and communicate individualized plans of care
+ Communicates effectively across disciplines, ensuring clear documentation and advocacy for patient needs and safety

+ Minimum 3 years experience.
+ BSN preferred.
+ Completion of 1 contribution as set forth through UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder.
+ UPMC approved nursing certification required. Certification not required if Master's in nursing or DNP is held.If a BSN is held, a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted in lieu of Certification.
+ The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
+ They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
+ Must obtain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on a Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluation to be promoted to this level. Must maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluation to maintain status.
+ Must have VP approval for promotion.
+ Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
+ Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
+ Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
+ Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
+ Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
+ Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire90 days from start date to obtain ACLS and PALS
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
