    Assistant Volleyball Coach

    Position Description:

    Performs responsible work in the development of teams and individual athletes for sports competition in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department under direct supervision of a head coach.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    The Assistant Volleyball Coach will support the head coach in all aspects of managing and developing Texas Tech University’s competitive women’s volleyball program. The role involves recruiting, coaching, and fostering a culture of excellence on and off the court. This individual will also work collaboratively within the athletics department to promote a positive student-athlete experience that aligns with Texas Tech’s values and goals.

     

    + Coaching & Development

    + Assist in designing, implementing, and executing training programs and practice sessions, with a focus on training setters, middle blockers, and team offensive systems.

    + Provide individualized feedback and guidance to student-athletes to improve performance and skills, incorporating technology and platforms to enhance training and translate skills into gameplay.

    + Coordinate data collection, organization, and utilization of practice and match data for players and staff.

    + Manage video tagging, posting, and building packages for game planning and individual meetings.

    + An advanced understanding of **VolleyMetrics** and **VolleyStation** , or **DataVolley** (including building worksheets), and using metrics for game plans, player development, and in-game decisions.

    + Assist with all phases of game plan development.

    + Recruitment

    + Collaborate with the Recruiting Coordinator to identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with Texas Tech’s athletic and academic standards.

    + Assist with all aspects of student-athlete recruitment, including off-campus evaluations, direct and indirect communication, and coordinating official and unofficial visits.

    + Attend scouting events, games, and tournaments to assess potential recruits.

    + Build and maintain relationships with high school and club coaches.

    + Academic & Personal Development

    + Promote and monitor student-athletes' academic progress to ensure NCAA compliance.

    + Serve as the Volleyball staff liaison with the team’s Academic Coordinator.

    + Serve as the Volleyball staff point of contact for SAAC, Leadership Academy, and NIL initiatives.

    + Mentor student-athletes, fostering leadership, sportsmanship, and strong character.

    + Administrative Duties

    + Assist in organizing team travel, budgeting, and other logistics as needed.

    + Collaborate with the Director of Volleyball Operations to manage equipment and gear inventory.

    + Contribute to fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives to support the volleyball program.

    + Serve as the Volleyball staff point of contact for community service projects.

    + Community & Public Relations

    + Represent Texas Tech Athletics in public forums and community events.

    + Help develop outreach programs to increase visibility and strengthen community support.

    + Previous experience as a player or coach at a high competitive level.
