Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technical Assistant performs in-vitro analysis of biologic specimens according to the procedures established for routine areas of the laboratory. The Laboratory Technical Assistant participates in the supportive functions of quality control, instrument operation, limited troubleshooting, and limited problem resolution. This individual’s responsibilities will be narrow in scope and limited to a specific group of tests (defined as waived or moderately complex by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

_For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._

**Minimum Required:** None

**Preferred/Optional:** Post-high school basic lab techniques, chemistry, biology, or physical science course(s). LTA in clinic only or a float phlebotomy course work.

EXPERIENCE

**Minimum Required:** Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment.

**Preferred/Optional:** Previous laboratory experience. Demonstrated experience with Laboratory Information Systems. LTA in clinic only or a float phlebotomy experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

_The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._

**Minimum Required:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire for those involved in direct patient care.

**Preferred/Optional:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire for those involved in direct patient care.

LTA would be responsible for specimen processing, waived testing and phlebotomy at any of the 5 North Market Marshfield Clinic locations. Will be scheduled Monday- Friday with varying shifts (Days). Shifts can vary in length depending on site. Person must be willing to be available start work at 645 AM in any location and flexible to travel to any site that needs help. Mileage reimbursement and travel time will be paid. Primary home will be Minocqua.
