    Job Description:

    General Summary:

    Mechanical Construction Field Representative/Field Engineer monitors and documents the work in progress on site for facility projects during construction, commissioning, final acceptance, and post-construction phases to ensure the work is executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and the project schedule.

     

    Please note that this position will require a person to work on-site at the GM Fairfax Assembly & Stamping plant in Fairfax, Kansas. Overtime is expected in this role, including evening and/or weekend work, depending on the stage of the project. This position will begin in February 2026 and should end in February 2027, but could be extended.

    Essential Job Functions:

    + Function as the focal point for all field coordination

    + Attend and chair weekly field coordination meetings

    + Monitor contractor schedules, quality assurance and safety compliance

    + Collect, analyze and file contractor daily reports

    + Control site logistics with regards to site access and laydown areas

    + Facilitate functional and safety buy-off

    + Assess completion of invoicing

    + Develop punch lists and drive to completion

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Employment Qualifications:

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management field preferred

    Experience:

    + 10+ years of experience in Construction Management

    + 3+ years of experience in Automotive preferred

    + Experience working on General Motors Projects a bonus

    + Strong Architectural/Mechanical/Electrical background required

    Skills/Competencies:

    + Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Schedule, AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred

    + Excellent communication and written skills
