Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician to direct aircraft maintenance activities in the accomplishment of unit flying schedules and maintenance plans, to assign priorities to aircraft production work, directs action to resolve resource shortages, and trains reservists in the duties and responsibilities set herein. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Performs personnel management responsibilities and administrative functions. Serves as technical advisor to flight chief/maintenance supervisor in the resolution of production problems. Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas Executes specific disaster control duties including provisions of Emergency War Orders and contingency plans. Manages the aircraft maintenance production effort by assigning priorities of work necessary to accomplish flying schedules and maintenance plans. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. 3. Knowledge in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. 4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. 5.Ability to implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, G081) programs. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. 2. Performs other related duties as assigned. 3.This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week. Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise, intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. It must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable).
