Job Description
Department Marketing Statement:
We are seeking an experienced GIS Developer with deep hands-on expertise in enterprise geospatial platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and implementing custom location-based solutions utilizing various ArcGIS frameworks, including ArcGIS Online, Portal, Survey123, Field Maps, Velocity, Drone2Map, and the ArcGIS JavaScript API, as well as the Google Maps API.
This role requires advanced skills in building location-based web APIs and developing scalable spatial analysis and mapping models to support web and mobile solutions. The GIS Developer will collaborate closely with development teams to integrate interactive mapping features into enterprise applications, delivering intuitive spatial solutions across multiple platforms.
Applicants with experience in public transit systems¿particularly those knowledgeable in Maximo Spatial and GTFS data modeling, processing, and visualization¿are highly preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in any discipline, with specific course work or specialization in GIS; Five (5) years GIS application development experience in ArcObjects programming with .NET; Three (3) years task management and self-supervisory experience; Prior experience in large teams in large corporate settings.
License:
GIS Professional (GISP) certification preferred.

Job Summary/Duties:
The purpose of this position is to provide general supervision, planning, development, enhancement, and support of GIS software, database, and web applications; and to develop interfaces, productivity tools, desktop tools, and client utilities in the context of WMATA¿s enterprise GIS.
Plans the development, enhancement, and support of GIS software, database, and web applications, interfaces, productivity tools, desktop tolls, and client utilities.
Develops interfaces, productivity tools, desktop tools, and client utilities in the context of WMATA¿s enterprise GIS; and ensures that applications and GIS products comply with WMATA-wide standards and pertinent legal requirements.
Integrates applications with other enterprise systems and/or with the enterprise Service Oriented Architecture.
Develops software within the .NET framework in conjunction with products such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 and 10, and Oracle 10gR2 and 11g.
Serves as a key technical expert in developing GIS desktop, server and mobile applications.
Serves as a technical advisor for updating and improving existing GIS applications in various business areas.
Serves as technical lead in directing other team members and ensuring products are delivered on time and on budget.
Assists in recognizing and developing skills and abilities of team members in order to assist professional growth.
