• TS/SCI Systems Engineering Manager

    Job Description

    Our client providing support for the Office of Naval Research is hiring for a Systems Engineering Manager to join their team in State College PA. In this role you will serve as a key liaison between researchers and IT services, translating complex research requirements into actionable technical solutions. You’ll proactively identify IT needs, advocate for resources, and ensure systems align with sponsor objectives. Daily responsibilities include providing direction to technical individuals administering Linux & Windows systems, supporting a wide range of IT hardware and software, and providing consultative technical support for research operations. You will also maintain documentation, assist with field testing at remote sites, and ensure compliance with security and system design standards. This role will not have direct reports initially but will guide matrix reports so should have an extensive technical background, the role does not require you to be very hands on technical but prior experience and willingness is necessary.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    Advanced Linux & Windows administration and support experience.

     

    Proficiency with IT hardware (servers, networking, peripherals) and general scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python).

     

    Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) and networking concepts.

     

    Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences; proven problem-solving ability.

    Ability to lead technical resources

    TS/SCI clearance or higher. Familiarity with DoD/DCSA authorization processes and security frameworks.

     

    Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet).

     

    Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, OpenSCAP) and cloud environments (commercial, government, DoD).

     

    Background in supporting research computing environments and projects.
