We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.

    The Role:

As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will play a critical role in bridging advanced product design with real-world customer applications. You’ll support highly engineered, custom product lines from early concept and design through installation and long-term operation—working closely with sales, product, engineering, and operations teams across the globe.

This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys customer interaction, hands-on testing, cross-functional collaboration, and leading application-driven projects that make a real impact.

    What You'll Do:

    Technical Leadership & Application Support

+ Provide expert application and technical support for new and existing custom-engineered products from design through contract completion

+ Ensure products meet customer specifications, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory and agency standards

+ Support new product introductions, product extensions (NBOs), Xylem Product Development (XPD) projects, and product improvements

+ Lead application-related projects and contribute technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle

    Customer & Sales Enablement

+ Partner with the global sales organization, distributors, and representatives to support specification reviews, cost estimates, and proposal development

+ Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, providing guidance during installations, field applications, and troubleshooting

+ Support beta testing and competitive evaluations

    Documentation & Training

+ Create, update, and manage customer-facing technical documentation including Installation & Operation Manuals (IOMs), quick start guides, and training materials

+ Deliver product application training as needed for internal teams and external partners

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

+ Work closely with Product Management, Product & Sustaining Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Operations, Purchasing, and Sourcing

+ Differentiate application-related issues from quality issues and route appropriately for resolution

+ Provide technical support to Product Safety & Liability teams, including field inspections and documentation

    Continuous Improvement

+ Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance application engineering processes and improve customer response time

+ Ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with established procedures and schedules

    What You'll Bring:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related technical field)

+ Minimum 5 years of relevant application engineering or technical support experience

+ Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

+ Proven ability to support business initiatives and customer-focused objectives

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Hands-on experience performing product testing, evaluation, and data logging using tools and test equipment

+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

+ Strong collaboration skills with a continuous improvement mindset

    Preferred Attributes:

+ Experience supporting custom or engineered-to-order products

+ Comfort working in a hybrid environment and collaborating with global teams

+ Natural sense of ownership, accountability, and technical leadership

    Key Relationships:

    External

+ Act as a trusted technical representative to customers across regions and applications

    Internal

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Business Development, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain

    Work Environment & Safety:

+ Hybrid role: Minimum 3 days per week onsite at the Irvine office/lab

+ Occasional travel to customer sites, labs, or field installations

+ Physical activities may include sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and occasional lifting

+ Commitment to Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) policies, including hazard reporting and participation in safety activities
