Responsibilities

MLT/CLT

+ Performs careful and accurate work in any technical area as assigned.

+ Performs tests within specified turnaround time for assigned area.

+ Assures that QA guidelines are strictly adhered to before reporting any laboratory result.

+ Complies with methodologies, procedures and services in consultation with the assigned laboratory supervisor.

+ Participates in performing and documenting routine instrument maintenance as assigned.

+ Documents all necessary information in the performance of technical procedures.

+ Has appropriate training and performs blood collections from all age groups.

Qualifications

Education:

+ Associate degree in a science-related field with a certificate of completion from a Medical Laboratory Technician program from an accredited institution.

Experience:

+ Less than one year experience is required.

+ Six months clinical internship preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

+ Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent. May be hired into this position if he/she has completed the requirements for registration but has not successfully completed the MLT exam; however, the exam must be successfully completed within 6 months subsequent to hiring.
