HNTB is looking for a creative and motivated Engineer I to join our Traffic Engineering and ITS group. In this role, you will support successful project delivery for a wide range of clients and projects. Work may include traffic forecasting, traffic analysis, traffic signal and ITS design, and operational improvement studies. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and modification of design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans, as well as supporting Task Leads and Project Managers in delivering quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every task and project. Task support entails utilization of traffic engineering standards, guidelines, and manuals to ensure project deliverables align with state and federal technical requirements. What You'll Do:

+ Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.

+ Supports the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.

+ Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.

+ Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.

+ Supports engineering teams with various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.

+ Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering

What You'll Bring:

+ Demonstrates strong analytical and problem‑solving skills applicable to traffic and transportation engineering.

+ Shows the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical staff and project leaders.

+ Displays initiative, willingness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced project environment.

+ Commitment to learning and improving proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, and software such MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCad, VISSIM, Synchro, HCS etc.

What We Prefer:

+ Master's degree in Engineering

+ Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

+ Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite, and traffic engineering and design software
