Salary range approximately **$110,000 – $176,000 annually** , based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview
The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for perioperative services within an acute care hospital setting. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while overseeing staffing, budgeting, performance improvement, and operational efficiency across surgical services.
The Director leads a multidisciplinary team and supports organizational goals related to quality, safety, patient experience, and financial stewardship. This position reports to senior administrative leadership and plays a key role in advancing perioperative performance metrics and service line growth.
Department & Environment Highlights
+ Acute care hospital with approximately 300 beds
+ Level III Trauma Center
+ Surgical Services include 8 Operating Rooms, including 2 CVORs
+ Service lines may include General Surgery, Vascular, Cardiovascular, Urology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery
+ Robotic surgery platforms supporting general surgery
+ Direct reports may include Certified Nurse Coordinators and specialty leads
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Clinical Operations
+ Lead the implementation of evidence-based practices to promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance
+ Standardize clinical practices to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost management
+ Ensure compliance with accreditation, legal, and regulatory standards
+ Oversee patient throughput, surgical scheduling, and perioperative flow
+ Develop and maintain care coordination processes that support interdisciplinary collaboration
+ Establish and maintain nursing and perioperative practice standards
Service & Patient Experience
+ Drive initiatives that enhance patient experience across surgical services
+ Use patient and staff feedback to benchmark performance and identify improvement opportunities
+ Promote consistent, compassionate, and high-quality patient interactions
People & Leadership
+ Foster a positive, accountable, and engaged team culture
+ Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing perioperative staff
+ Support staff development, recognition, and engagement initiatives
Financial & Operational Management
+ Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for surgical services
+ Monitor financial performance and address variances through targeted action plans
+ Manage operating expenses, supply utilization, and equipment investments
Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
+ Master’s degree preferred
+ Minimum of **3 years of Director-level Surgical Services leadership experience** required
+ Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple operating rooms and perioperative departments
+ Strong operational, financial, and clinical leadership skills
+ Ability to support perioperative operations as needed (e.g., scheduling, room coordination, clinical support)

**Pay Details:** $110,000.00 to $176,000.00 per year
