Position Overview
The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for an inpatient behavioral health unit. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while overseeing staffing, budgeting, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives. The Director fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and compassion, and partners closely with executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support organizational goals.
This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and oversees approximately 24 FTEs within a 48-bed inpatient behavioral health unit.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide leadership to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health care
+ Oversee daily operations, staffing, and resource utilization for the behavioral health unit
+ Develop and implement policies, procedures, and clinical standards in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
+ Promote efficient patient throughput, including admission, treatment progression, and discharge planning
+ Foster interdisciplinary collaboration to support optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
+ Monitor clinical quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and performance benchmarks; implement improvement initiatives as needed
+ Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards, including crisis intervention and workplace safety protocols
+ Lead budget planning, expense monitoring, and cost containment efforts without compromising quality of care
+ Support employee engagement, professional development, performance management, and retention
+ Collaborate with administrative leaders and medical staff to enhance existing services and identify opportunities for growth or program expansion
+ Maintain oversight of equipment, supplies, and operational readiness
Qualifications
+ Minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last year) inpatient acute care behavioral health leadership experience (Manager or Assistant Manager level)
+ Bachelor’s degree required
+ Active RN license required
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
+ Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required within 90 days of hire
+ Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with professionalism and compassion

**Pay Details:** $110,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
