Quality Engineer

We are seeking a driven and experienced Quality Engineer to ensure robust product and process compliance with demanding customer, regulatory, and industry standards. This role requires an individual who can work independently, lead proactive problem-solving initiatives, and effectively manage key quality systems. You will be fully accountable for supporting continuous improvement, managing risk, and maintaining strong customer quality relationships.
+ Location: Onsite in Buffalo Grove, IL
+ Pay Rate: $55 per hour
+ Shift: Mon – Fri (07:00 AM - 03:30 PM
Responsibilities:
+ Lead cross-functional teams in the logging, tracking, root cause analysis (using 8D methodology), and timely corrective action for customer complaints. Communicate quality status, performance trends, and systemic issues directly to customers.
+ Lead structured problem-solving (8D), implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives. Track and analyze Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), submitting ideas to reduce waste.
+ Conduct process audits, perform Gemba walks, and approve reworks/deviations. Support internal and external ISO 9001 audits to ensure QMS compliance and readiness.
+ Manage and track APQP/PPAP status for new product launches, ensuring all quality deliverables within the NPD process are completed accurately and on schedule, including robust process validation.
+ Manage internal and external finished goods PPAP/FAI documentation. Utilize ERP/MES systems and digital QMS platforms for effective data management, traceability, and cross-functional data support.
+ Monitor key KPIs and customer scorecards, analyze quality trends, and present detailed metrics to leadership for performance review and strategic decision-making.
+ Coordinate activities to ensure the accuracy of quality inventory (including MRB and RMA). Support physical inventory and cycle count activities as needed.
+ Collaborate with the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to communicate and resolve supplier issues. Evaluate and approve Field Modification Instructions (FMI) prepared by engineering for accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Quality, or a related technical field.
+ Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in the Quality Field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding quality status, complaints, and corrective action plans.
+ Solid understanding and practical experience with core quality tools, including PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventive Action), as well as basic knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
+ Proficient in the use of Excel for complex data analysis. Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and digital Quality Management System (QMS) platforms is required.
+ Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards (or equivalent QMS standards) and specific transit/industry standards is a plus.
+ Exceptional ability to work independently, take initiative, make informed decisions, and communicate complex technical information effectively across diverse internal and external teams.

**Pay Details:** $55.00 per hour
