Job Title: Assistant SuperintendentJob Description

We are seeking a Construction Assistant to support a large student housing project in Fort Wayne from February through July, with a potential January start. This temporary role involves operating an all-terrain forklift, performing general labor tasks such as site clean-up, and assisting with light carpentry work like installing temporary handrails. Additional responsibilities may include punch list activities such as spackling drywall defects and paint touch-ups. Candidates should be adaptable, safety-conscious, and willing to work occasional extended hours or Saturdays.

Responsibilities

+ Operate an all-terrain forklift (certification preferred).

+ Perform general labor tasks, including site clean-up.

+ Assist with light carpentry work, such as installing temporary handrails.

+ Conduct punch list activities, including spackling drywall defects and paint touch-ups.

+ Support the superintendent in administrative tasks.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in construction.

+ Proficiency in operating an all-terrain forklift.

+ Skills in light carpentry work.

+ Ability to perform punch list activities.

+ Experience in commercial construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ OSHA 30 certification.

+ All-terrain forklift certification.

+ Adaptability and safety-consciousness.

Work Environment

The work environment involves a typical construction site setting with hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. There may be days with earlier or later hours, as well as occasional work on Saturdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
