Job Description
The Laboratory Support Staff plays a crucial role in meeting deadlines within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will operate proactively and collaboratively in a team to support research and development activities. Following a training period, tasks will include managing inventory, maintaining laboratory supplies, and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in the lab. The role also involves executing molecular and microbiological experiments, such as nucleic acid extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining records in electronic laboratory notebooks.
Responsibilities
+ Assist with inventorying and stocking project-specific laboratory supplies.
+ Participate in weekly cleaning activities to maintain a clean lab environment.
+ Follow detailed instructions in the execution of experiments and procedures.
+ Work in a Biosafety Level 2 environment using appropriate PPE with potentially pathogenic microbes, patient samples, and body fluids.
+ Operate in PCR areas using PPE to ensure proper containment of nucleic acid contamination.
+ Record experimental details in electronic laboratory notebooks.
+ Use and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces according to operational, quality, and safety requirements.
+ Communicate continually with the supervisor on the progress of assigned tasks.
+ Perform all work in compliance with corporate policies and within the guidelines of the Quality Management System.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Basic laboratory skills in a Biosafety Level 2 environment.
+ Proficiency in using personal protection equipment (PPE).
+ Ability to handle patient samples using sterile techniques.
+ Experience with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) procedures.
+ Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Quality Management Systems.

The work environment is a laboratory setting that requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protection equipment. The role involves working with potentially pathogenic organisms and patient samples in a Biosafety Level 2 environment. This is a Contract position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
