We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing test procedures, performing debugging and failure analysis, and ensuring product performance aligns with specified requirements. This role requires a strong background in hardware testing, data analysis, and cross-functional communication to drive continuous improvement in our testing processes.
Responsibilities
+ Execute established test procedures on various hardware components and systems, including PCBs, embedded systems, and prototypes, following detailed instructions.
+ Monitor tests at internal and external labs to ensure they are running correctly and capture relevant data.
+ Perform initial debugging and failure analysis of test setup to identify the root cause of hardware and/or software anomalies encountered during testing.
+ Utilize standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers to probe, measure, and troubleshoot issues.
+ Perform mechanical test setup using aluminum extrusion and hand tools to ensure tests are executed properly.
+ Analyze test data and results to confirm product performance against specified requirements.
+ Document and log defects/bugs with organized and meticulous notes using internal tracking systems, including steps to reproduce, observed behavior, and system configuration.
+ Prepare clear, concise, and accurate test reports summarizing the test progress, execution status, and key findings.
+ Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including Design, Firmware, and Mechanical Engineering to discuss test results and potential issues.
+ Maintain the organization and operational readiness of the testing environment and equipment.
+ Assist senior engineers with re-testing fixes and verifying successful resolution of defects.
+ Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Hardware testing experience
+ Proficiency in Python for automating tasks, analyzing data, and working within larger testing frameworks
+ Experience in a Linux environment and understanding of networking protocols
+ Working knowledge of test equipment such as thermal chambers, vibe tables, liquid chillers, power supplies, and electronic loads
+ Multidisciplinary experience across Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, with expertise in one and knowledge in the other
+ Familiarity with scripting languages like Python and MATLAB for data processing or simple test automation
+ Understanding of common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART
+ Prior experience in a lab setting or with hands-on hardware projects
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with build automation
+ Experience in thermal vibe testing
+ Familiarity with automotive communication protocols, including CAN and CAN-FD
+ Familiarity with test/operation of brushless motors

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Mountain View, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $73.00/hr.
