    Job Title: Phlebotomist I - Rockhill

    Job Description

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make recommendations to improve workflow. This position requires strong skills in blood draws, specimen labeling, and centrifuging, as well as maintaining data and ensuring proper decontamination. The Phlebotomist will collect and store specimens following established procedures, clearly explain the venipuncture process, and demonstrate techniques using straight needles or butterfly needles.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.

    + Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.

    + Update patient information and decontaminate equipment.

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

    + Understand and comply with all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.

    + Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script 100%.

    + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.

    + Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + At least 1-2 years of blood draw and recent phlebotomy experience in clinical setting

    + Must have pediatric drawing experience

    + Hard stick patient experience

    + Experience in fast-paced environments

    + Excellent customer service

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Certification

    + Flexibility to cover an IOP location if needed

    Work Environment

    This position is located in a large lab with a fast-paced environment, drawing between 50-60 patients daily, predominantly pediatric patients. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The candidate may need to be flexible to cover an IOP location approximately 3 minutes from the main PSC location.

    This is a Contract position based out of Rock Hill, SC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.75/hr.
