    Job Summary

    As a Senior Automation Systems Engineer you will specialize in automation and intralogistics solution sales within manufacturing, distribution centers, warehouses, and e-commerce spaces. As the technical subject matter expert, you will work closely with a Sales Representative within existing Carolina Handling accounts to drive warehouse and intralogistics initiatives.

     

    In this role, you will ensure internal and external client satisfaction by consistently exceeding customer expectations. You will leverage your interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong client and vendor relationships, delivering comprehensive intralogistics solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with the ISG team to develop, prepare, and present tailored proposals to clients.

    Responsibilities

    • Technical Expertise and Support

    o Act as the SME within automation and intralogistics, providing technical support for the sales team’s requests within the automation, intralogistics, and systems solutions space.

    o Cater solutions to customer needs, offering innovative approaches for complex problems within the automation and intralogistics domains.

    o Gather and analyze data such as product specifications, application environment, customer facility details, and project restrictions for accurate solution development.

    • Collaboration and Sales Strategy

    o Ensure optimum solutions and implementations by working closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Applications, and Project Management personnel.

    o Work with the ISG group, project coordination team, engineering group, and other internal departments to make strategic account planning and pricing decisions when presenting solutions to customers.

    o Collaborate with the sales team to address customer needs and provide co-operative sales solutions tailored to their specifications.

    • Market Analysis and Business Development

    o Identify areas where Carolina Handling’s automation and intralogistics product sales are weak and initiate actions to improve market penetration, particularly in National and major accounts.

    o Collaborate with external vendors and partners to enhance market presence and provide tailored solutions for clients.

    • Reporting and Performance Measurement

    o Design and execute reporting procedures for continual performance measurement in automation and intralogistics operations.

    • Marketing and Product Strategy

    o Oversee all phases of marketing for Carolina Handling Automation and Raymond Intralogistics offerings, from answering product questions to developing pricing/product strategies.

    • Supplier Coordination

    o Work with various suppliers to ensure the delivery of appropriate and high-quality solutions to customers based on specific project requirements.

    • Perform any other duties as assigned or required to support the company's overall operations and objectives.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent years of work experience.

    • 10+ years of experience in material handling automation sales and systems development.

    • Exceptional business acumen with a demonstrated understanding of key business drivers.

    • Must be able to establish and maintain customer confidence, providing exceptional customer service.

    • Listens attentively to customer needs, clarifies requirements, and effectively addresses concerns.

    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

     

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job unless it causes undue hardship.

     

    This position is classified as medium work, involving the operation of motor vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as movement to complete tasks or transition between work sites. Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for equipment operation, computer use, writing, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    This role entails working in a dynamic environment, encompassing both office-based tasks and visits to customer sites, involving regular interaction with internal and external customers. Travel to customer locations for sales calls and presentations is a requirement, potentially exposing the individual to diverse environments, including the risk of encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals if proper safety protocols are not followed. Additionally, the role often involves exposure to various outdoor weather conditions. The individual in this position must adeptly manage strict deadlines, shifting priorities, and a high volume of information flow while consistently upholding professionalism. Standard office equipment such as laptops and smartphones are routinely utilized, and noise levels typically range from moderate to high.

     

    Travel Requirements: You can expect 50% travel, with daily or weekly visits to customer sites being a key aspect of this position. Occasional overnight travel may be required depending on the project’s location and scope, as well as for attending meetings and conferences.
