    JOB SUMMARY:

    This is a Professional Accountant Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program, Distribution and Reconciliation Process, Revenue Accounting Unit. The incumbent coordinates with Accountants and Tax Law Specialists to perform complex reconciliations of various Department funds, ensures funds are properly accounted for in the State Accounts and internal tax databases and prepares reports for local governments and state agencies. The incumbent also completes work involving the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theory, and technical skills in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) to revenue recording function of FLAIR & PALM systems. This position serves as is the liaison official between the process and other processes and agencies regarding revenue collections and deposit adjustments.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    + Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.

    + Two years of experience communicating verbally and in writing with internal and external partners for the purpose of resolving inquiries.

    + Two years of experience conducting research and analyzing information to make decisions.

    + One year of experience applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:

    + An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of the combined experience specified above.

    PREFERENCES:

    + Experience researching, interpreting, and applying Florida tax law.

    + Experience reviewing or making adjustments to account balance in the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).

     

    SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $4,529.16 monthly/$54,349.88 annually.
