    Minimum qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

    + 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

    + 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: drafting or enforcing online platform policy, engaging with online public policy issues, or product management focused on product and user safety.

    Preferred qualifications:

    + JD, MBA, or Master’s degree.

    + Experience engaging in and discussing sensitive or controversial policy/content areas.

    + Experience in implementing projects in a demanding and changing environment.

    + Ability to balance a holistic mindset with a meticulous, detail-oriented approach to execution.

    + Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

    + Excellent communication and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align with executive stakeholders and leadership.

    Fast-paced, dynamic, and proactive, YouTube’s Trust and Safety team is dedicated to making YouTube a safe place for users, viewers, and content creators around the world to create, and express themselves. Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust and Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

     

    As a Policy Development Lead, you will develop global policies as well as product solutions for YouTube content and drive cross-functional projects impacting the global ecosystem. You will bring order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems. You will cover a wide variety of topics, and contribute across multiple areas, with a focus on New Products and Generative AI.

     

    This role will sometimes involve reviewing graphic, controversial, or offensive content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

    The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    + Discuss optimal policy solutions balancing safety and product reach with growth objectives, including developing or updating global policies focused on policy requirements for new features and lead execution all the way to safe launches.

    + Present policy proposals, product solutions, risk assessments or other presentations to executive leadership, including multiple Vice Presidents (VPs) and influence stakeholders and company executives regarding proposed policy efforts.

    + Serve as central point of contact for Cross Product Solutions team, building relationships with stakeholders across Feature Teams, Enforcement, Operations, and ensure clarity, accountability, and seamless hand-offs across teams.

    + Propose new strategies and policies to improve Trust and Safety product market fit to the evolving needs as well as our ability to scale enforcement.

    + Understand and clearly communicate the policy issues and needs presented by new features and emerging global online content risks.
