Description
This is an Associate Scientist position in R&D. The candidate must be a competent individual contributor who can execute assigned work as well as able to plan own work supporting projects assigned to ensure key project milestones are met.
This position primarily entails developing new formulations in the beauty care space. The candidate will also support existing products as needed, shade extensions, reformulations, etc. The candidate will collaborate with multifunctional partners during the product development, validation and scale up processes such as Product Development, Process Development, safety, regulatory, clinical, and analytical testing.
Actively develops new formulations, shade extensions and reformulations with technical competency.
Designs & conducts experiments requiring the selection of equipment & materials for the delivery of the project. Makes constructive contributions to product formulation firmly based upon a science-based approach.
Determines stability of the formulation and ensures commercial feasibility.
Follows projects from prototype development through manufacturing. Contributes in establishing manufacturing procedures.
Assures that all testing to guarantee a marketable final product is on schedule. Precisely measure product characteristics and make timely recordings of the results.
Establishes standards and submits batch cards to lab management for review.
Keeps laboratory management and key project members informed of progress.
Identifies technical learnings, issues, and solutions for all projects, provides suggestions on all experiments and technicalities.
Trains and directs technicians and/or temporary staff in laboratory procedures. Reviews work for accuracy and completion.
Assists in resolving product or process problems.
Stays abreast of developing trends in the Cosmetic field; builds depth of understanding and shares new approaches with the team.
Interfaces with all R&D departments, OA, Technical Services, Manufacturing and Product Development.
Complies with all company policies, procedures, safety and GMP.
Qualifications
University Degree (BA or BS) in Natural Sciences
0-2 years of experience
Experience in formulation and characterization of complex multiphase systems (i.e. emulsions, dispersions) and ability to link product composition to desired performance attributes is a plus.
Proficient in GMP Protocol, Windows Office, Excel, Outlook, and computer applications.
