Location/Hours: Hybrid – 3 days/week in office; some evening and weekend event attendance required
All candidates must reside within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.

SEO Tech Developer is a virtual intensive, free immersion program to propel first-year and sophomore computer science and software engineering college students to the next level — including a paid six-week summer residency. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and career preparation, students gain the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in the tech industry. The Tech Developer program bridges the gap between academic learning and workforce readiness, ensuring students are equipped to thrive in internships and early career roles.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Director, Tech Developer will lead the SEO Tech Developer (Tech Dev) team and, alongside the Senior Director, Leadership & Tech Pathways, take a central role in all staffing programmatic and team structural decisions related to Tech Dev’s training of university students in software engineering. With oversight from the Senior Director, Leadership & Tech Pathways, the Assistant Director, Tech Dev will lead the team to creatively develop ways to recruit, train, and prepare university students for internships and full-time jobs in line with SEO’s mission. In collaboration with the Senior Director and the Development team, the Assistant Director, Tech Dev will support fund-raising for the Tech Dev program to ensure the near- and long-term financial and operational sustainability for the program.
Program Leadership & Oversight
+ Manage and coach 2-3 direct reports and provide skip level management to part-time, instructional staff members.
+ Lead engagements with other internal SEO teams to ensure ideal recruiting and career development outcomes.
+ Represent Tech Dev among other SEO professional program peers and provide support where programs intersect.
+ Manage external relationships, including training platform vendors, curriculum providers, evaluators and researchers.
+ Lead the annual budgeting and planning for the Tech Dev program.
+ Manage budget to ensure financial strength and flexibility.
+ Develop and implement operational processes to improve efficiency and impact.
+ Regularly assess program goals and outcomes, adjusting operations as necessary.
+ Maintain oversight of staff and volunteers, including Tech Dev Advisory Council.
Program Design & Curriculum Development
+ Ensure adequate applicant volume and quality to yield a highly selective class in line with budgeted resources.
+ Ensure the continuous improvement of program offerings to keep Tech Dev programming at cutting edge of servicing program participants and addressing evolving workplace requirements.
+ Modify curriculum based on shifting industry trends and requirements.
+ Ensure participants receive high value training.
+ Support participants in applying for competitive tech industry internships, especially in software development.
+ Lead the annual TechDevCon.
Fundraising & Partnerships
+ Collaborate with Development team and Senior Director, Leadership & Tech Pathways to support revenue generation for a $2 million+ budget through annual fundraising efforts and cultivation of relationships with potential corporate sponsors and funders.
+ Work collaboratively with Development team to identify grant opportunities and provide programmatic updates and metrics for proposals to secure single and multi-year grants for program initiatives.
+ Through collaboration with Development team, gain insights into sponsor/funder interests and trends, and align program needs and design, ensuring changing business needs are met through our curriculum topics and work placement criteria.
+ Communicate regularly with sponsors to ensure ongoing support of program objectives.
+ Collect, analyze, and track program information to support reporting with partners and to create stronger partner relationships.
+ Provide regular reporting of program data to SEO colleagues and external sponsors.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ 4-5 years of direct program management and pre-professional coaching/mentoring experience, ideally within corporate tech; partnerships experience a plus.
+ 2+years of people management experience within roles of increasing autonomy and responsibility.

+ Passion for SEO: A deep curiosity about the barriers to entry for pre-professionals from industries across Wall Street, Technology and Corporate America, and a dedication to closing opportunity gaps.
+ Strong Leadership and Organizational Skills: Able to lead a small team, multi-task and meet the needs of the students and sponsors while successfully keeping participants’ needs at the forefront. Strong time management skills and willingness and ability to take on ad hoc projects as needed.
+ Motivational Skills/Empathy: Proven ability to motivate, coach, and mentor high-achieving college students. Passionate about SEO Tech Dev’s mission and helping participants get the practical knowledge and skills they need to gain an internship offer and ultimately have a successful and enriching internship experience in software development or technology more broadly.
+ Communication: Able to communicate in writing and orally in a manner that is understandable to a diverse audience to include candidates, current SEO Tech Dev student interns, partners, SEO Tech Dev recruitment team members, and executive team members. Must be comfortable with speaking and presenting in public.
+ Critical Thinking and Flexibility: Capable of anticipating needs, employing best resources, and employing careful decision making. Able to adjust to changes and work demands quickly while maintaining a strategic and tactical vision to efficiently complete work. Ability to be both a self-starter and a team player who builds people-first relationships and prioritizes the participant experience every step of the way.
+ Technical Skills: General technical proficiencies to lead tech engineers and instructors and manage programming within a cloud-based environment, including using MS365 products, Box, Monday.com, advanced Excel, Codio, Airtable, etc.
