Job Description Summary
This position serves to lead a team of security personnel, using CCTV for monitoring, IT systems for access control, site patrolling, emergency responses, report generating, accident/incident investigation, and all other standard security duties in the protection of people and properties of Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM). The person in this role assists in distribution of daily duty assignments, daily briefings, scheduling, and holiday management. Team Leader helps ensure compliance with policies, procedures and protocols of local, federal, state laws as well as ACOM facility standards. Team Leader assists in the audit of security practices and processes.
Job Description
Essential Functions
+ Responsible for daily valuable/safe audits to track accuracy for who/what was secured or released during previous shift.
+ Responsible for maintaining Lost & Found logs and inventory.
+ Overseeing daily shift rotation for security post.
+ Reviews shift schedule overlaps to ensure continuous coverage.
+ Field Training Officer trainer for shift once initial training is completed.
+ Primary responder for escalated incidents and communication follow-up.
+ Reports all incidents verbally to team members received from other departments or obtained during shift activity.
+ Acts as primary liaison between Safety & Security management and daily security team members.
+ Responsible for security vehicle inspections.
+ Write accurate, clear and legible accident/incident reports documenting investigation steps and results with little or no editing.
+ Performs other duties as requested by Safety & Security Manager or Director of Campus Safety.

Qualifications
Required Minimum Education
+ High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Minimum Education
+ The equivalent combination of education and experience to include one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in the field of law enforcement and/or security management
Required Minimum Experience
+ One (1) year experience in the field of law enforcement and/or security management
+ Taser or Control Device Certification
Preferred Minimum Experience
+ One (1) year experience as senior level officer,
+ Working knowledge of college campus security operations
+ Comprehensive knowledge of Jeanne Clery Act Compliance
Required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
+ Maintain current Taser or Control Device Certification
+ Basic knowledge of investigative procedures
+ Training and knowledge of appropriate hands on and verbal de-escalation.
+ Demonstrates proper body mechanics when confronted by an agitated person on ACOM property
+ Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
+ Ability to operate in stressful environments while maintaining a high level of professionalism
+ Ability to operate two-way radios for communication.
+ Ability to use Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
+ Ability to respond and record events using department report writing standards for all safety and security related events.
+ Recognizes and employs team efforts to achieve a cohesive department and achieve goals.
+ Encourages and promotes positive behaviors in team members
+ Work weekends, nights or days with occasional call outs
+ Transportation:
+ Valid state driver's license
+ Must be eligible for coverage under the organization's vehicle insurance policy to operate company vehicles (including golf carts) by meeting the following requirements:
+ If transporting more than just self in the vehicle – must be at least twenty-five (25) years old,
+ If transporting ONLY self in vehicle – must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
+ Complies with the state and federal traffic rules and regulations, observing safe driving techniques.
+ If unable to meet organizations’ vehicle insurance requirements, be able to supply personal enclosed transportation during work hours for the purpose of support.
