I. Job Summary
The MBA Finance Intern will support the Renewable Energy finance team in delivering high-quality financial analysis, partnering with commercial leaders, and contributing to core financial processes. This role will provide hands-on experience in operational finance, commercial support, and strategic analysis within a fast-growing segment of WM’s business.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
• Support monthly close activities, including variance analysis, journal entry preparation, and review of key financial schedules.
• Partner with the commercial organization to evaluate new opportunities, support pricing and deal analysis, and develop financial models for customer or project scenarios.
• Assist in building or enhancing driver-based forecasting models for revenue, operating costs, and project performance.
• Support the commodity risk management function through data analysis, exposure tracking, and helping evaluate hedge or contract strategies.
• Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making across the Renewable Energy team.
• Work with operations, engineering, and commercial leads to gather data, validate assumptions, and prepare clear and concise insights.
• Help prepare materials for leadership reviews, including forecast updates, performance summaries, and business cases.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand business drivers and support ongoing business partnership across the organization.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function, including process documentation, automation opportunities, and standardization of reporting.

A. Education and Experience
Education:
Current MBA student with a focus on finance, strategy, or related field.
Experience:
+ Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.• Comfort working with large data sets and converting data into actionable insights.• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.• Strong communication skills and ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders.• Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, or energy markets is a plus.

+ Ability to work well with staff at all levels and across functional teams
+ Project management experience, leadership, and ability to multi-task and prioritize
+ Ability to work independent of direct supervision
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Available to travel up to 20 percent of time
+ Interest in business and environmental sustainability issues, topics, and trends
