We are seeking a highly motivated **Automation System Development Engineer** with a strong background in design and robotics to lead the design, integration, and optimization of automated systems for laboratory workflows and discrete part manufacturing operations. This role is critical to advancing our R&D and production capabilities through smart automation, precision robotics, and data-driven process control.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Develop automated systems and robotic equipment for R&D laboratory operations and high-volume discrete manufacturing processes Utilize CAD software to create drawings and assemblies for part fabrication & documentation.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automation strategies that improve throughput, accuracy, and safety.
+ Program and integrate industrial robots (e.g., ABB, Epson, Kuka) with PLCs, vision systems, and lab instrumentation.
+ Develop and maintain control system architectures, including HMI/SCADA interfaces and recipe-driven automation.
+ Lead all phases of the development cycle including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, final design, fabrication, assembly, integration, and start-up.
+ Support data acquisition and analytics for process optimization and predictive maintenance.
+ Lead technical communications with internal customers and external development partners.
+ Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all automation deployments.
Education & Experience:
_Required:_
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
+ 3+ years of experience in robotics and automation system engineering
+ Proficiency in robotic programming, PLC integration, and control systems.
+ Proficiency in C#, C++, and Python and vendor specific robot programming languages (such as ABB/Kuka/Epson)
+ Experience with vision systems, safety systems, and industrial communication protocols.
+ Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
+ Proficiency with 3D printer operation and optimization for prototyping
_Preferred:_
+ Experience with CAM software & design (CNC machining)
+ Proficiency in Machine Learning implementation for robotic and vision systems
