Provides clinical expertise and training opportunities to ensure a knowledgeable, well-educated staff to provide world-class quality patient care. In concert with the Director and Chief Nursing Officer determines the clinical and customer service educational needs of the department, and develops and implements educational programs to meet the needs of the group and individual. Maintains departmental education records and assures staff compliance with continuing education requirements. Assesses implements and monitors PI activities for MASU. Assesses, plans, implements, & evaluates breastfeeding care for inpatients as well as outpatients. Coordinates community and hospital wide activities to promote breastfeeding success. BS in Nursing (Preferred). North Carolina RN licensure/eligibility. Current certification by International Board of Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Excellent written and verbal skills. Serves as role model for delivery of excellent patient care and customer service. Minimum of three to five years maternity experience preferred. Minimal one year experience as IBCLC or Lactation Educator required.
