(Part-Time) (50%FTE)
The University of Rochester Medical Center, Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics & Aging, seeks a faculty member to join our academic geriatrics program. The primary practice site will be in long-term care settings, including skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities affiliated with UR Medicine Geriatrics Group (URMGG). The faculty member will provide high-quality clinical care, participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners, and contribute to the academic mission of the Division and Department.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Provide comprehensive medical care and ongoing supervision for older adults in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care settings in accordance with state, federal, and institutional policies.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient- and family-centered care.
• Serve as attending physician for residents in long-term care settings.
• Achieve and maintain standards for patient satisfaction, documentation, clinical productivity, and quality of care.
• Shared on-call responsibility (by phone) in partnership with physician and advanced practice providers for after hours, holidays, and weekend medical coverage
Teaching
• Actively participate in the teaching mission of the Division of Geriatrics & Aging.
• Provide clinical instruction and bedside teaching for medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers as needed.
• Serve as a role model in geriatric medicine and long-term care, demonstrating best practices in chronic disease management, interdisciplinary teamwork, and compassionate care.
• Engage in educational activities within the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, including lectures, seminars, and small-group instruction as assigned.
Administrative
• Participate in facility-level and Division-level committees, medical staff meetings, and programmatic initiatives as assigned.
• Support quality improvement and patient safety efforts in collaboration with facility partners and URMC colleagues.
Research/Scholarship (Optional/Encouraged)
• For faculty on a full-time track, pursue scholarly activities consistent with interests, which may include clinical research, quality improvement, or educational scholarship.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Division, Department, and University to advance the field of geriatrics and long-term care.
Qualifications
Must obtain a New York State Medical License prior to start date
Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
Must meet all credentialing requirements
Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, eligible for Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine strongly preferred
Demonstrate commitment to excellence in clinical care of older adults
Prior fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine Preferred
Strong Interest in medical education and teaching across levels of learners
Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required
Compliance with University and New York State health requirements

Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
