This position provides ongoing optimization and support for Histotrac Laboratory Information System (LIS) software and related laboratory applications to ensure accurate and efficient processing of lab data. Collaborates with laboratory staff and IT teams to troubleshoot system issues, implement software updates, and optimize workflow. Analyzes system performance, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and provides support to users. This position plays a key role in integrating laboratory instruments with information systems to enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities
+ Executes builds in the Histotrac LIS and related laboratory clinical applications, ensuring quality outcomes and compliance with standards.
+ Participates in upgrades, patches, and system enhancement efforts.
+ Supports applications throughout implementation and provides ongoing maintenance, including error queue support for Histotrac LIS.
+ Triages, troubleshoots, and resolves application support issues.
+ Communicates with University of Utah workforce and laboratory vendor entities for problem resolution and project coordination.
+ Creates, executes, and maintains test scripts and supporting documentation.
+ Prepares and updates system documentation, as assigned.
+ Adheres to departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
+ Provides guidance on LIS best practices.
+ Performs data extraction and collection using SQL to support reporting and analysis needs.
+ Develops and maintains expertise in assigned applications and related technologies.
+ Provides on-call support as needed.
+ Attends laboratory staff meetings to represent IT interests.
+ Completes tasks and assignments as directed.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
+ Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
+ Expertise in LIS systems (Histotrac) and clinical application workflows.
+ SQL proficiency for data extraction and analysis.
+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure.
+ Clear, collaborative communication with technical and non-technical teams.
+ Adaptability and quick learning in evolving technologies.
Qualifications
Qualifications** **Required
+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related science, information technology, healthcare or business, or equivalency.
+ Three (3) years of experience working with Histotrac or other laboratory information systems.

+ This position involves light work that may exert up to 20 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects or lab equipment. Workers in this position may be exposed to the chemicals used in a laboratory setting. Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
