    Job Summary:

    The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing a manufacturing department, production line, or production site directing the activities of workers, monitoring departmental headcount, and ensuring products meet quality and on-time delivery requirements. Leads and encourages a collaborative team environment dedicated to meeting departmental goals and objectives.

    Essential Functions:

    + Proactively supports a culture of safety and quality as top organizational priorities.

    + Actively participates in ongoing training initiatives and collaborates with team members and leadership to share information in a structured process.

    + Direct the work of department employees and leaders to meet quality and on-time delivery requirements; address production challenges and communicate to appropriate individuals.

    + Partner with production planning to determine department workflow and schedule; forecast human capital and overtime requirements based on expected business.

    + Resolve employee personal and performance issues in conjunction with management and Human Resources, to ensure effective employee relations.

    + Provide consistent and timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to employees on development, performance, and conduct

    + Monitor, review and approve employee time records in a consistent and timely manner. Analyzes actual throughput vs. expected, notifies Production Control manager of discrepancies, and identifies and appropriately addresses obstacles, such as training needs, in meeting production goals.

    + Train and coach employees on department work instructions, processes, procedures, policies, and safety standards, while emulating the same behavior.

    + Coach and mentor team leads on leadership skills such as communication, results, accountability, etc.

    + Partners with others to drive improvement projects/initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.

    + Troubleshoots technical problems, calibrates equipment, and coordinates with the Maintenance Department the monitoring of maintenance schedules for preventive maintenance.

    + Determines MRO supply needs to keep their area running smoothly and efficiently

    + Partners with leaders, manufacturing engineers, and human resources for skills knowledge development of all employees for assigned department.

    + Assisting with process Engineering and designing work holding/fixtures for jobs.

    + Control and minimize labor overtime.

    + Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, researching outside fixtures, equipment, tooling, packaging, and supplies to recommend process improvements.

    + Coach and develop team members to reach their full potential

    + Motivate and challenge to drive high performance

    + Role model and enable development of competencies in others needed to implement STC’s strategy

    + Establish and support a safety culture in which all accidents are preventable

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    + 3-5 years of production experience, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role

    + Technical Degree in manufacturing/production or equivalent work experience

    + Strong, clear, and effective written and verbal communication skills.

    + Familiarity with the operation of production equipment

    + Strong organization skills and the ability to work under pressure

    Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

    + ANSI Z87 Safety glasses and/or chemical splash goggles

    + Anti-Static Safety Shoes (ESD) (Department specific)

    + Disposable Coveralls

    + Chemical Resistant Gloves

    + Respirator Full/Half

     

    Total Rewards

     

    The compensation range for this position is $67,500.00 - $101,300.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonus plan.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands

    Work environments and physical demands vary by role and may include:

    + Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) or safety gear, provided by STC (see above)

    + A combination of seated and standing work; walking for moderate to extended periods.

    + Fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and visual focus for detailed tasks, including tool use, computer work, or microscope inspection.

    + Exposure to repetitive motions; adaptive devices or reasonable accommodation may be provided as needed.

    + Deadlines, shifting priorities, and peak workloads that may create a fast-paced environment.

    Manufacturing & Production Areas:

    + Work performed on the shop floor, in climate-controlled spaces, or clean rooms. Some areas may be noisy, dusty, or warm.

    + Mandatory use of job-specific PPE and machine guards.

    + Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.; some roles require pushing loaded carts.
