About this role

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner(Psych NP)follows established policies and procedures and state guidelines, ensuring compliance with supervision requirements through proper documentation. Theyprovidepsychiatric consultation, diagnostic, treatment, and medication management services to patients, including crisis intervention services. Overall, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role inprovidingquality mental health care to patients.

What you bring to the table

Education

+ Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

Experience

+ Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.

Licenses/Certifications

+ Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.

+ Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.

What you will do

+ Conducts comprehensive assessments,implementsand evaluates individualized plans of care, and monitors medication and treatment protocolsin accordance withestablished policies and procedures and state guidelines.

+ Documents all relevant patient care issues, including observations and interventions, in progress notes and treatment plans that are problem-oriented, legible, and compliant with documentation requirements.

+ Providesindividualized care and treatment that is culturally sensitive and age-appropriate, andparticipates in the psychiatric on-call schedule ifrequired.

+ Adheres to established formulary procedures for therapeuticregimens, andsupports standards of psychiatric care through adherence to policies and procedures for admission and transfer, utilization review, and referrals.

+ Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments andactions, andprovidesinput into mandatory committees as requested by superiors.
