    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

    The Division of Science and Technology's Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Staten Island (CSI) is excited to announce the tenure-track open rank Faculty position for the Doctor of Physical Therapy in Staten Island, New York. This unique opportunity is for a collaborative faculty member who can teach clinical or foundation courses or specializes in any of the major physical therapy specializations (OCS ,ECS, SCS, etc.) and is committed to the profession of Physical Therapy and the inclusive excellence of our students.

     

    As a faculty member of the DPT Program, you will have a significant role in shaping the next generation of physical therapists. This full-time, 9 month , in-person faculty position involves expertise in curriculum development ,delivery, assessment, student advisement, leadership in service to the university and profession, community outreach, and scholarly engagement. New faculty for the DPT in CSI will join a well-established in-person program committed to providing evidence-based educational practice. Applicants should demonstrate a successfully teaching record. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a well-defined research agenda and contributes to research and scholarly activity as required by the University and CAPTE. To develop, deliver and assess curriculum for DPT students. Advise and mentor students. Provide leadership in university and professional service and engage in community outreach efforts.

     

    The College of Staten Island is a four-year senior college of The City University of New York. It provides exceptional opportunities to all its students and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, certificates, and continuing education programs. CSI is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Completed in 1994, the 204-acre campus of CSI/CUNY is set on the largest physical New York City college site. Surrounded by a park-like landscape, the campus is centrally located on Staten Island. A rural oasis in an urban setting, the campus includes 300 classrooms, laboratories and instructional space, study lounges, department and program offices, and faculty offices, along with extensive athletic facilities and an acclaimed Center for the Arts.

     

    Our program has offered the Clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), the entry-level degree required for Physical Therapists since 1995. The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at The College of Staten Island/CUNY's accreditation status with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education(CAPTE) has been reaffirmed for 10 years, effective until 2030.The program values excellence in education and research.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Academic doctoral degree (PhD, E.D.., etc.)

    + Have a current Physical Therapy license in the US with the eligibility for licensure in New York State

    + Minimum of 5 years of full-time clinical experience in physical therapy.

    + A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the graduate level.

    Preferred Qualifications include:

    + Current APTA specialist specialization (OCS, ESC ,SCS ,etc.)

    + Expertise in physical therapy management of patients with complex medical conditions.

    + Experience in inpatient care management across the continuum of care.

    + Ability to teach within a specific area of PT education in foundational science such as anatomy or clinical areas such as musculoskeletal pediatrics, sports physical therapy, women's health, acute care experience, and other clinical areas of physical therapy.

    COMPENSATION

    Assistant Professor: $86,741 - $94,909

     

    Associate Professor: $105,816 - $113,982

     

    Full Professor: $122,201 - $131,440

     

    Salary commensurate with education and experience.

    *Salaries will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
