    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer and in coordination with the Central Accounting Office, the Controller will be responsible for the oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities of the Hospital.

     

    + You will prepare the weekly projections in a timely manner. Ensure that the data is materially correct, considering recent trends. Investigate, and understand the reasons for unusual or unexpected trends, both favorable and unfavorable.

    + You will analyze the monthly financial statements during (and immediately after) the close process. Ensure that the data is materially correct, considering recent trends. Investigate and understand the reasons for unusual or unexpected trends, both favorable and unfavorable.

    + You will prepare accurate and timely financial reports at the request of the CFO. Obtain a thorough knowledge of the data that is available from corporate systems and a thorough knowledge of how to access this data via the most efficient means (Clear Access, Vista, etc.)

    + You will assist and/or supervise staff with proforma preparation for new business development projects.

    + You will prepare and/or coordinate preparation of Cost Report (through Reimbursement Manager) and Tax work papers in an accurate and timely manner. (High Risk, Low Volume)

    + You will ensure the timely and accurate reporting of physician receivables information to senior management (as requested.) Follow up on unexplained variances to trends or to policy.

    + You will ensure physician income guarantee contracts are audited as called for in each recruiting agreement. Follow through with legal department and/or facility on issues arising from audits. (High Risk, Low Volume)

    + You will establish a control system for identifying and investigating significant financial statement fluctuations from month to month. Ensure the fluctuations are understood and any errors are corrected before they result in material misstatements. (High Risk, High Volume)

    + You will conduct balance sheet reviews to ensure the balance sheet is reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policy. (High Risk, High Volume)

    + You will establish a process to ensure adequate internal control systems, which protect the facility’s assets, and ensure compliance with company and hospital policies and procedures. At a minimum, utilize the internal audit review process to identify financial control deficiencies.

    + You will monitor capital spending. Ensure capital dollars are expended in accordance with Division and Company policy.

    + You will assist the CFO with development and analysis of operating and capital budgets.

    + You will assist department heads and administration with reviews of the departmental operation reports, labor management, purchasing compliance, managed care contracting, revenue control, case management, etc. Perform Department Head financial orientation.

    + You will provide department heads and administrations with assistance and support during employee turnover, system conversions, etc.

    + You will be responsible for performance of the accounting department, including staffing, financial performance and employee satisfaction.

    + You will assist the CFO with analyzing revenue. Help with identifying and implementing appropriate strategies to grow revenues and to position the facility competitively in the marketplace.

    + You will assist CFO (through the reimbursement manager) in analyzing revenue effect of reimbursement changes in all payer groups.

    + You will track external audits. Ensure audit is completed in a timely manner through follow up with auditors.

    + You will coordinate the internal audit process. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken, in a timely manner, to address all material findings.

    + You will assist the CFO with the development of the financial analysis of proposed capital projects.

    + You will assist CFO in follow-up of project including but not limited to volumes and financial audits.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration

    + Preferred: CPA

    + Minimum of 2 years as an Accountant or Assistant Controller in healthcare setting required
