Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Patient Care Technician, you will be a crucial member of our collaborative nursing care team, delivering hands-on care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for patients. Your support brings comfort, dignity, and connection to those who need it most – and helps make our mission to improve lives a reality for patients every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

+ Performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

+ Gives direct, selected nursing care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.

+ Assist in the smooth, efficient functioning of the nursing unit including transcription of medical orders, scheduling of procedures/testing, obtaining/maintaining supplies and equipment and general clerical duties including use of computer systems.

+ Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.

+ Takes and records vital signs, weights and I&O.

+ Responsible for stocking rooms with supplies.

+ Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.

+ Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

+ Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

+ Orients and mentors new staff members.

+ Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

+ Draws blood and starts peripheral IV’S once competency is completed.

+ Performs EKG’S on patients as per ED protocols.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Working knowledge of medical terminology.

+ Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

+ Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.

+ Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION:

+ High School Graduate or equivalent required.

LICENSURE:

+ BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through American Red Cross Current EMT-B certification/license.
