The Clinical Analyst (CA) is responsible to provide clinical expertise to ensure that the CMH Electronic Health Record (EHR) meets the functional requirements of the organization. The CA works extensively with the CMH EHR as well as other related applications, collaborating with all departments, assisting the Information Technology (IT) Manager and Clinical Informatics Supervisor with information technology in clinical areas, and ensuring compatibility with clinical systems. The CA functions as a clinical expert, educator, consultant, and researcher for clinical information systems, and will be responsible for planning, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and training of EHR projects to improve the clinical process. The CA is responsible for assisting providers and clinical staff in order to optimize the EHR’s use in meeting documentation requirements and expectations. Responsible to represent providers and clinical staff in the optimization and development of workflows and best practices of EHR utilization The CA, in conjunction with the IT Manager and Clinical Informatics Supervisor, and at the direction of the IT Governance Committee, will prioritize projects, tasks and assignments in order to maintain an efficient and accurate EHR. The CA will ensure that systems and support are in place so that CMH and the CMH Medical Group attains and maintains Meaningful Use compliance. Job Requirements Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to: Ability to work directly with providers and clinical staff to optimize EHR use; Ability to optimize EHR software to meet the needs of the end user; Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and clinical workflows and processes; Ability to work closely with project sponsors, project leaders and analysts; Ability to evaluate and validate clinical needs when implementing plans, including gathering input from end users; Knowledge of information systems and how they can be used to improve efficiency and patient care; Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships; interact productively with both clinical and non-clinical teams; Excellent customer service skills. Be knowledgeable of the operation of the suite of clinical applications as new ones are installed and existing ones are upgraded. Assess the implication on clinical operations and processes of patient care delivery when assisting in resolution of departmental issues. Ability to teach and train end-users of the applications and to trouble shoot problems that arise; Ability to develop and generate ad hoc queries and reports as needed ; Assist in live conversion plans for new and upgraded systems. Assist and provide expert knowledge in screen modifications. Provide departmental support during each phase of system/software modifications and implementations. Participate as content expert in QA of the application functions. Assist in the development of user policies and procedures. Utilize all applications expertly. License/Certification: n/a Education and/or Experience: • Minimum education - 2 year certification or degree in a clinical field o Preferred - Bachelors in a clinical field • Minimum experience - 2 years in direct clinical practice, including use of EHR o Preferred - Prior experience supporting clinical information systems with the knowledge of Cerner (Community Works) strongly preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds). May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; and hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
