Job Title: Manufacturing Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and highly motivated Manufacturing Manager to establish and oversee all production operations from the ground up. This pivotal role requires a strategic vision combined with a hands-on approach to ensure that our manufacturing processes are efficient, safe, and scalable to support consistent company growth. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, can wear multiple hats, and is resourceful in optimizing limited resources to turn our product vision into a reality.
Responsibilities
+ Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day manufacturing operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
+ Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures from scratch to optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety.
+ Create and manage production schedules to meet customer demands and inventory targets.
+ Oversee raw material purchasing, inventory levels, and storage, working closely with suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
+ Establish and enforce rigorous quality control standards and programs to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, optimize workflows, and enhance overall performance.
+ Hire, train, supervise, and mentor a small but growing team of assembly technicians and production personnel.
+ Foster a positive work environment and a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
+ Plan for future equipment, space, and staffing needs to support long-term strategic objectives.
+ Liaise with the Engineering, Product Development, Sales, and Quality teams to seamlessly transition new products from design to manufacturing and ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
+ Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and report progress to sr management.
+ Assist in developing and managing operating budgets and ensuring expenses remain within approved limits.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
+ Minimum of 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
+ Ability to operate effectively in a startup or similarly ambiguous environment, where processes need to be built from scratch.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to make critical decisions.
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
+ Proficiency in using ERP/MES systems and data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
+ In-depth knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory standards (OSHA, ISO, etc.).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with specific industry processes relevant to the company's product (e.g., mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, etc.).
+ Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
+ Experience with CAD/CAM software or other engineering tools.
+ Medical device or cleanroom manufacturing experience.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled medical device manufacturing environment. The schedule is flexible to accommodate different working styles, with core hours from 10 am to 4 pm. The focus is on achieving goals, with accountability to the agreed schedule. The facility offers a good healthcare plan with multiple options and generally follows traditional holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
