About the Role
Join a growing chemical manufacturing company recognized for its innovation in rubber additives and expanding into chlorine tablets and oil additives. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to design, maintain, and optimize electrical systems that power critical plant processes. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly impact reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design & Maintain: Develop and maintain electrical systems for chemical plant operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
+ Troubleshoot & Optimize: Diagnose electrical issues, implement preventative maintenance programs, and recommend solutions to improve system performance.
+ Project Leadership: Oversee repairs, manage scheduling, costs, and milestones, and provide consultative input on electrical design and troubleshooting at substations.
+ Collaborate: Work closely with controls engineers and other electrical engineers on complex projects.
+ Design Tools: Utilize MicroStation for electrical design (training provided if familiar with AutoCAD or similar software).
Qualifications
+ Experience: 3–5 years in electrical engineering, power distribution, and process engineering.
+ Proficiency in electrical design and project management.
+ Familiarity with UL508, NEC guidelines, and hazardous area electrical design.
+ Experience with medium voltage power distribution, switchgear design, and control panel design.
+ Comfortable with PLC systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
Preferred Skills
+ Associates degree or higher with relevant industry experience.
+ Background in chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, food/beverage, or power plants.
+ Knowledge of instrumentation design, process control, and packaging line designs.
+ Familiarity with motor control centers and variable frequency drives.
Work Environment
+ Primarily office-based with regular visits to the plant and substations.
+ Exposure to design and process management with opportunities for growth and learning.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Sauget, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
