Role Overview / Summary
The Senior Engineering Manager will serve as the strategic owner and thought leader for the Enterprise Query Hub (EQH) platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). EQH is a mission-critical operational data store that consolidates customer, account, and transaction data in near real time from multiple Systems of Record (SORs). This platform enables customer-facing applications to query a consistent, low-latency copy of SOR data—significantly reducing direct reads to SORs and laying the foundation for the bank’s digital transformation and growth strategy.
Core Responsibilities
+ Platform Strategy & RoadmapDefine, communicate, and govern the multi-year EQH strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectives. Drive implementation across Bigtable, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Cloud Composer (Airflow), and Python.
+ Stakeholder Engagement & InfluenceAct as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, technology partners, and risk/compliance teams. Communicate plans, risks, and measurable outcomes effectively.
+ Operational Data Store ArchitectureOwn the design and evolution of data models, partitioning strategies, and schema management for Google Bigtable to support high-throughput, low-latency query patterns.
+ Near Real-Time Data IntegrationLead event-driven ingestion pipelines (Pub/Sub → Dataflow) and scheduled file ingestion workflows (Cloud Composer/Airflow DAGs) to ensure timely and accurate data synchronization.
+ Reliability & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)Establish and enforce SLOs/SLAs, observability standards, disaster recovery strategies, multi-region resiliency, and incident management practices.
+ Security, Risk & ComplianceImplement and govern encryption, tokenization/masking, and data protection best practices in compliance with regulatory requirements.
+ Consumer Enablement & APIsDeliver well-documented APIs and clear contracts for consuming applications, ensuring ease of integration and scalability.
+ SOR Offload & Performance OptimizationPartner with SOR owners to achieve measurable reductions in query volumes and improve system performance.
+ Financial Transparency & FinOpsOwn cloud cost governance, optimize resource utilization, and maintain budget accountability.
+ People LeadershipBuild and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering organization. Directly manage 12 FTE engineers and oversee a significant offshore team. Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and inclusion.
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in software or data engineering, including 3+ years in leadership roles managing platform or data engineering teams operating mission-critical services at scale.
+ Hands-on expertise with Bigtable, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and CI/CD on Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
+ Proven experience building operational data stores, event-driven architectures, and implementing data quality controls.
+ Strong grounding in SRE/DevOps practices and a security-first mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
+ GCP Professional Certifications (Cloud Architect, Data Engineer).
+ Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
+ Experience managing large distributed teams and driving organizational change.
