    Jacobs (Cary, NC)

    Apply Now

    We are looking for a Process Engineering Intern to join our Jacobs Life Sciences group based in Cary, NC. Jacobs works with some of the biggest names in the Life Sciences, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical industries locally and worldwide. The role is intended to be a hybrid position, with 2-5 days a week spent in the office.

    Pharmaceutical and biotechnology products impact all our lives in some way. The projects that we execute deliver lifesaving products to patients globally. Jacobs provides a single source of responsibility for all services, from strategy and concept through site selection and evaluation, regulatory compliance, design, constructability, construction management, commissioning, validation and startup. We also provide operations support and asset management services, including plant engineering, maintenance optimization and traditional maintenance and turnaround services.

    As the largest professional services provider to the biopharmaceutical industry, clients benefit from both our local presence and global reach. We offer a full range of design and construction services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide, with a complete focus on providing maximum value for our clients.

    In this role, you will be paired with a process engineer peer mentor and be a part of a project team, helping to complete project deliverables. You will have the opportunity to learn how to read, understand and develop different deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), Equipment Lists and Equipment Data Sheets. As an intern, you will also be included in the Jacobs Life Sciences North America Process Training Program. This program gathers all of Jacobs young process engineers across the US to learn about different unit operations from Jacobs Subject Matter Experts. In addition, you will gain access to a library of previously recorded sessions and any new sessions that take place during your time with Jacobs.

    To be successful as an intern with our team you must have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to effectively communicate with all levels of Jacobs staff and external stakeholders. Our ideal candidate is self-driven with excellent time management and organizational skills in order to effectively work independently and as part of our high performing, multi-disciplinary team.

    At Jacobs, our intern program spans across various departments allowing for you, as a process department intern, to build connections and interact outside of just the process department, giving you a better idea of what this office does as a whole. At the conclusion of the program, all interns will reflect and summarize their experience via a presentation to their peers and the management team.

    * Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Bio Engineering or a related degree from an accredited university

    * At rising Junior status or further along in their degree program

    * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

    Ideally, you'll also have:

    * Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

    * 3.0 GPA

    * Previous design internship experience
