• Structural Bridge Engineer Professional Associate

    Jacobs (Moon Township, PA)


    Support the development of projects through the conceptual/study phase, preliminary engineering, and final design and through to construction. Assist in the development of specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of final bid packages. Prepare and oversee staff in the CAD development of bridge details and plans sets. Compile bridge type, size, and location studies. Coordinate bridge layouts, details, and constraints with other disciplines including roadway, drainage, and survey. Identify creative and innovative bridge engineering solutions based on client, project, and site constraints. Perform calculations, assemble calculation packages, and provide bridge load ratings. Coordinate with a team to meet project milestones. Perform occasional site visits (as needed).

    REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field and 5 years of work experience as a Bridge Engineer, Structural Engineer, Project Engineer or related occupation.

    Special skills:

    Expertise and knowledge of:

    1. Structural design and analysis experience with precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and structural steel.

    2. Various types of bridges, to include analysis, design, ratings, and plan development of new and rehabilitation projects.

    3. Ability to apply the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures.

    4. Seismic design.

    5. CAD systems - MicroStation and AutoCAD.

    6. Knowledge of bridge construction including site visits, construction phase services, or similar experience.

    7. STAAD or other similar structural modeling programs.

    8. Professional Engineering licensure (any state).
