Electrical Engineering Professional Associate

Design electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance, pump stations, and water treatment facilities, industrial, commercial, entertainment, healthcare, ports, and roadway projects. Prepare contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects. Electrical systems include low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, telecommunication system, life safety system, photovoltaic (PV) design, campus resiliency study, EV charging infrastructure design, emergency power systems, UPS, and battery backup systems. Apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry. Engage several different assignments simultaneously. Develop basis of design report, One-Line Diagrams, plan drawings, Motor Control Diagrams, incorporate PLC-based control logic, proficient in reading and understanding P&ID, Control Panel Drawings, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, short-circuit and load flow Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations as well coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services as needed. Utilize lighting software to perform calculations and provide 3D model rendering and photometrics while ensuring compliance with energy efficiency requirements (Title24, COMCheck). Perform power system studies for electrical systems using SKM and ETAP including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies, and competent in equipment sizing, grounding, and breaker and relay coordination. Engage in quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water, transportation, healthcare, commercial and industrial markets. Perform field visits to assess electrical equipment and conduct site investigations for public and private clients. Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, onsite meetings with contractor and stakeholders, conduct code compliance investigation, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings. Assist with LEED certification process while ensuring compliance with sustainability standards. Contribute towards project pursuits/proposals. Mentor junior engineers and CAD design staff.
Hybrid schedule is allowed.
Travel: up to 25% travel within California to project sites.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of work experience in the job offered or related Electrical Engineering occupation. As an alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 8 years of work experience in the job offered or related Electrical Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Expertise and knowledge of:
Lighting software such as AGI32 to perform calculations and provide 3D model rendering and photometrics. National Electrical Code (NEC). AutoCAD, AutoDesk, Revit, and Navisworks Freedom. Power system tools such as SKM and ETAP including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies, and competent in equipment sizing, grounding, and breaker and relay coordination. CA Title 24 Requirements, COM Check Requirements. Helioscope for PV system design.
Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) License in any state with ability to transfer to California Electrical PE License within 6 months of hire.
