    Job Description:

    40-50% Teaching

    + Teach four to five 3 credit courses per year, primarily online DSW courses

    + May also teach online MSW courses

    + Plan and organize assigned courses including syllabus preparation according to a standardized syllabus guide, textbook acquisition, media/technology needs and equipment requests, and maintain the course web-based learning management system

    + Administer exams and assignments including grading of assignments and reporting of course grades to the Office of the University Registrar

    40-50% Teaching/Capstone Coordination

    + Manage content for DSW capstone project coursework including capstone policies and procedures and instructional materials/guides.

    + Provide six credit hours of capstone instruction toward students attaining program objectives academically equivalent to a dissertation

    + Oversee adherence to all Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and University of Kansas Office of Graduate studies policies related to doctoral exams and doctoral committee structure

    + Participate in CSWE accreditation planning, maintenance, and reporting. Assist with program evaluation to assure student attainment of program objectives, reporting the results to the faculty and CSWE. Monitor and facilitate necessary changes.

    + Serve on and/or chair DSW student capstone committees

    + Coordinate the appointments of chairs, members, and Graduate Studies Representatives to capstone committees

    + Provide academic advising to assigned students until a qualifying committee chair has been selected.

    + Represent the School in a variety of forums, such as KU Graduate Studies, GADE, and CSWE, when the DSW Director is unavailable

    + Help coordinate/plan professional development and training opportunities for students and faculty related to DSW programming

    + Participate in continuing education activities regarding online learning initiatives

    10-20% service

    + Participate in curriculum development when appropriate

    + Mentor adjunct faculty

    + Review DSW applications for admission

    + Serve as a professional mentor to students

    + Serve on Academic Review Committees as needed

    + Praticipant in faculty and school business meetings

    + Serve on elected and appointed committees

    1. DSW degree or PhD degree in social work or a closely aligned applied social science field

    2. At least 5 years of previous independent teaching experience, in person and/or remotely

    3. At least 5 years of related macro practice experience.
